I just purchased a JD 4005 utility tractor and I will not pay the dealer $975.00 for a sun canopy . I thought about using plywood like on my last tractor, which worked OK . Any better options out there for under $400.00 ? I looked at a tractor umbrella, don't think it would last in the brush. Thanks !

I found a used golf cart top (cracked) at a golf cart dealer. Made some brakets and bolted it to the roll bar. It works for me.

- Many over the years, + '05 JD-4410 TLB, but quite proud of my big green "Rolls": AKA: 2006 JD-3520 Cab, HST, Tunes & 2-way tiltmeter, Cobra communications and 6" (x2) rear wheel spacers for a lot less pucker-factor!!
For all the years before I had a proper cab,...I always used a TSC buggy-top that bolts to your fenders and is easily removed to put on another tractor. The main thing I liked about it was with the canvas top and alluminum frame, it could fold back like a convertable top, so you could stand up.
After many hours on a tractor seat it is nice to be able to stand up and keep going. Kind of defeats the new seat belt and seat switches for safety, but was nice to do at the time.
I think it was a hundred bucks at the time and a new canvas top every few years was 40.

I bought this same canopy about four years ago and have never had a problem with it.
Only thing I don't like about it is the ribs run left to right and if there is snow on top the only way to get it off is to push it to the left or right and everytime some ends up inside on the seat!

I have the hood off of an S-10 Blaser that I'm going to use for a sun shade. Holding it up there by hand, it looks like it's the perfect size. I just need to build a frame and attach it to my ROPS. Then paint it black to match my ROPS.
