I have been working on making some additions to my snow removal equipment for this snow season.

First I added a rubber strip to my front blade and some red plow markers (not because I am a rookie, but because I like the looks). The rubber strip was cut from a stall mat from TSC and the markers are for Polaris plows.

Next I added a leg to my rear blade so it doesn't fall over and I don't need to search for a block to prop it up when I am putting it on or taking it off the tractor. Just some 3/4" black pipe with a foot of a short piece of scrap angle iron that slides up and down in a piece of 1" black pipe that I enlarged, on my 9 x 20 lathe, the ID to fit the 3/4" black pipe.

I also did something similar on the single bottom plow my dad found for me last year for $25.

Finally, this summer I bought a box of weight bench weights for $2 and I wanted to utilize then on my tractor when moving snow. The mount I ended up using was 1/2" black pipe (24" long) and a floor flange welded to the back of the blade to hold the pipe. To make the diameter of the pipe closer to the ID of the weights, I heated (slightly with my propane torch) 3/4" plastic electrical conduit and then hammered two separate pieces onto the black pipe till they met. It was a slow and tedious process, but it was the only way I could get an OD to fit the ID of the weights. Then once I installed the weights, I topped it off with a cap.

Great ideas.... I think I will 'borrow' a few of them. :) As soon as I decide on which welder I am going to buy.

I like the parking stands. I really need to make one for my landscape rake.

I like the parking stands - nice job. Did you drill a hole in the bottom so water will not collect in the pipe, causing it to freeze up and burst? Don't ask how I know about this.

Be sure to paint those parking stands a contrasting high visibility color as a reminder to make sure they're raised.

That Deere/Frontier/Woods rear blade parking stand is solid 1" round-bar. The replacements I made are Deere yellow.

Good point, even though my implements are are stored inside. I will add that when I paint them this spring.

Wow, that took a lot to bend 1" solid bar. I will take the advice, even though I triple check everything before I pull away. It doesn't hurt to have the visual color difference also.

I was physically and mentally tired when I bent the stand, so any redundant checking I'd normally do went out the window.

Deere/Frontier/Woods wanted $40 for a replacement stand. I made three and had them powder coated yellow for about the same cost. That way I have two spares in case I frak up again.

Keep us posted on how well the stall mat works (I was going to do the exact same thing!)

Nice job ...
