Buying Advice 5035

I stopped by our new "largest dealer" (they have six tractors!)
I know that if you go to Dave's Tractor you will see A LOT more than 6 tractors. Maybe you should make a trip. Dave is the West Coast Mahindra distributor and is my dealer and I am 650 miles away.

out here one day and inquired about the price of a 5035 shuttle shift w/loader (which was not in stock) and got a cash price of around $27,000 plus change. BUT if I financed it at 0% interest it would cost me $30,000 and that's with a few thousand down !!!!!!
Am I dumb or what? Seems to me that they're charging me an extra $3,000 + to finance @ 0%, please correct me if I'm wrong!
Your not wrong,:( and I think that you will find that just about all the brands are about the same. Kubota and John Deere may not do that, but you usually have a higher price to start with.;)

FYI.... my dealer told me that "factory" dual rear remotes aren't available on the 5035 only a single and if I wanted dual, he could install for an additional $1,200!
:( Yep it is a sad thing, I just checked with Dave and there is no OEM 2nd remote on the 35 Series tractors.

I would go with an aftermarket 3 valve setup before I paid $1200 for just 2 remotes. Mahindra definitely lacks in the remote valve department. :( They have some pretty darn good tractors in my opinion, but they do without question come up short when it comes to remote hydraulic valves.

I would not hold the (only 6 tractors) against your new dealer, it would be a big bullet to bite to get say, 15-20 different tractors for potential buyers to look at and he is not sure yet what his customers want just yet. If things go well for him, he may get and stock a lot more tractors. I say good for him and hope that the dealership works out for him.

Your new dealer in Santa Rosa is doing a very good job for a new dealer. He's on a bit of a learning curve, but he is learning fast and doing well. He's sold quite a few units this year, and it is his first year. He has recently placed an order for more inventory, but like most dealers he lets inventory dwindle a little in December and January. We know this since we ship him his tractors.

I think he may have mixed up his programs on the 0% on this model. On all of the 16 series, the 25 series and some of the 30 series, the dealer gets charged about $115/$1000 financed on the 0%, so if you financed $25K, the finance company charges the dealer $2875 for the "free financing". But the 30 series is not that way, the buydown is much, much less. I bet your dealer got his programs mixed up, it is so easy to do.

Free financing is never free, just hidden in different areas.

The 5035 lostout this time after looking at mahindra and again back to the massy. when I was about to buy the mahindra, called the dealer from my last purchase I.E. Swineford Trailer here in Oklahoma. They had too good an offer, I wen't with the massey 1643 with a 18' trailer. the massey cost me $27,500.00 and if purchased before Dec. 31, I got a $4000.00 rebate, so it came to $23,500.00. I would have liked the mahindra but have more experiance with Massey.

I am not knocking your decision as I fully understand your feeling more comfortable with the Massey, due to your previous experience. But the Mahindra 5035 really didn't come up short as it isn't an apples to apples comparison to the Massey 1643. The Mahindra is 1555 lbs heavier than the 1643, that is 45% heavier. The Mahindra is just plain a bigger tractor it stands to reason it would be more money. Any how I am sure the Massey will do what you want from it, and you will get many years of enjoyment operating it. Have fun.

Thank you for that clarification. ... Had me wondering.

I'm sure the6shooter will enjoy his 1643. It is a very nice tractor I was very seriously considering a 1540 before I bought my 3215.

Larry, you have a lot of stuff, have you found that you need multiple remotes for your tractors? The 1643 has a possibility of 3 OEM rear remotes  and the 5035 has 1. :( I have found that I would like 4 rear remotes on each tractor. This is one of the weak points of the Mahindra's in my opinion. Only their bigger tractors even have multiple remotes available.

I was just wondering how you or anyone else feels about having multiple remotes.

Im ok with 2 on the little tractors, but 2 isnt enuf on the 7520 even without TnT. Im presently converting one of my remotes to a 3 way solenoid diverter. That will give me four. Im going to put it on the bottom portion of the lefthand FEL pedestal, close in under the platform near the clutch linkage. I will plumb it in directly - no QCs. Two of the 3 selectable outputs will feed into two 1/4 hose circuits routed inside the FEL arms to run my tilt tach and a grapple. The third will come out of the diverter on 1/2 hose 2' long pigtails with QCs. I will just tuck them out of the way til needed. I will also run a 1/2 circuit in the FEL so I can run a 25HP motor up front. That pair will just be capped at each end and remain dry til I need it. Iv got the diverter valve and just made a big order for hoses and fittings. I wont get to it til the weather warms tho.

Larry, thanks for the reply. I just don't get these tractor companies, all the hydraulic stuff that is available these days and the OEM's think that 1-3 remotes is all that anyone needs. I'm not saying that the tractors need to come with them, just that they should offer more than what they do.

Just a newb, but have already learned that I need more than 1 remote. Do agree, the tractor companies should offer (the option) for extras.

Will ask my dealer what he'll charge to add remotes to my 5035.

TnT...... me like!
Dang, the more I read TBN, the more $$ I want to spend.

One of the problems with being educated. When you find out what you don't have, then you want it. And here on TBN, we're all about education.:D
