Ok so it's no good to push backward ? Why have a 3pt box scraper or blade? I always keep my 3pt tight, use it hard and have broke nothing!

I cringe everytime I use my rear blade in reverse.

For the record, both the boxblade and rear blade are designed to pull forward.

Much easier on the hitch to pull whenever possible.

For the record...... Thanks dad! Box scraper has a blade on the backside and a blade can be turned around Weird

Recently had this 6 foot (180cm) rear blade made for my JD 4400 by a local machinery dealer. Have had about 2 foot of snow already this winter but blade arrived as snow started to recede. Front loader did a good enough job on short drive (40 yards). Have to wait for next lot of snow to try the blade out in earnest.

Thanks for the many responses to my earlier mailing. Like many things in life my setup is a compromise between cost and functionality. The gold standard would be to have the plough on the front and to have a blower as backup for deep snow. We have snow for about 4 -6 weeks each winter and I only have 40 yards to clear so it is difficult to justify a big spend. The plough on the back should work OK if care is taken and one goes slowly. It cost me about 」800 which for the UK is quite cheap for a rear plough (it is quite substantial and more than just a blade).
I haven't costed exactly but a front plough would require me to remove my loader and get a front 3 point hitch fitted which in total would cost 」2000 to 」3000. A front blower would need an additional front PTO which with blower would be a total cost of 」4000-」5000. (」3 = $1.5 USD everyting cost more in UK)
You have to start some where and as somone said it is very much easier that using a shovel. In the end of the day you get what you pay for.
