Allis Chalmers d17???

I Have a guy that want to trade me his allis chalmers d17 for my jetski's im only asking $2000 for my skis is this worth it I havent heard much about this tractor at all and was kinda cirious.

What do yall think and is it worth 2k?

Its an Lp gas dunno the serial #

I am not sure what it would be worth being the LP-gas engine.

It is moe rare, but I dont know if that would increase the value, or decrease it due to it being a hassel for most people. But I'd say if you have access to LP, then it is probabally worth the 2k.

Tractor house lists D17's ranging from $2500 to north of $6k.

Check it out--make sure everything works OK---no funny looking exhaust smoke, works OK in all gears, no major fluid leaks from the engine or tranny, gauges all working OK, 3pt hitch works OK. decent amount of rubber left on the tires (especially the rears), no tire dry rot.

$2K is in the ballpark.

They were less crude than the WD series they replaced and I think if it does not have a 3 point hitch kit on it you may want to pass UNLESS you need an old strong tractor to do specific tasks.

Having the hand clutch gave them an effective LIVE PTO that was not too common in the tractors of the day/

$2K is at the low end for good running D17-even LP. The LP is going to hurt the value. More difficult to resale. Had a D17 diesel and D15 LP. Both were good tractors. These tractors are prone to jumping out of gear, especially when used for loader work due to wear on the internal gears. Tend to jump out of gear going down a hill with little load on the tranny. Brakes are also a little difficult to fix. The allis 3pt coupler system is really old school. Best to have adapter or converted to use conventional 3pt equipment. Otherwise it is AC attachments only.
