A trivia question first.

What is the first movie in which Eastwood's character died? And bonus question, the last?

My favorite was the Good, Bad, and Ugly. The absolute best scene of any western ever was the faceoff at the end where Eastwood stood cool and calm, not a bead of sweat, while the Bad and the Ugly melted in the heat. What really made it my favorite though was the fact that I saw it with my older brother one hot summer night. I was up late when he came home and he asked me to go with him. We sat outside the drive in watching until the ticket taker closed up and went home. Back in those days they would play the feature movie again after the second show, and it would play into the wee hours of the morning. Life was simple back then. We sneaked in the exit with the lights out and sat together watching Eastwood at his best. Eastwood was a bigger than life figure for sure, but my hero was my big brother. Ever since then I can be flipping channels late at night and run across anything with Eastwood in it, and I stop right there. My brother died ten years ago, but in my heart he still watches those old movies with me.

So you gave the Ex to Clint in California and you moved up to Canada to the freezing cold and the deep snow to escape her?

That is a scary lady!

:D:D:D:D:D

Yeah, actually it was almost like that. She stayed in maritime Canada and I moved to our last frontier...a litte community on Great Bear Lake, NWT.

It was terrible living there. First lake trout I ever caught there was 20lbs. Largest I've actually seen caught...64lbs. The record last I heard was 73lbs.

Pristine country, great people for the most part, fabulous snowmobiling with powder snow on the frozen lakes, up to your waist. Yeah, it was a hardship alright!!!!:laughing::thumbsup:

The Beguiled.
Honkeytonk man.
Grand Torino.

I'm not sure he made a truly bad movie. The every which way stuff might come close (and maybe Bronco Billy, not one of my favs), but I've seen far far worse. Most of his movies range from entertaining to downright spectacular. Look at this thread, and how many comments about rewatching. I know I've seen Good-Bad-Ugly at LEAST a dozen times. Probably half that for most of his other westerns except Josey Wales, which I pretty much watch at least once a year. How many of us have watched any other actor/actresses body of work as much?

And look at the range. Classic westerns. Thrillers (Misty). Great cop shows. Musicals (Paint your wagons). Yup, he is one of a kind. I still see him as Rowdy Yates........

What a great thread! I have about 30 movies I need to rewatch today!

I love his movies, and Rawhide was great too. My fav's would be hard to pick. l loved Pale Rider, and Dirty Harry of course. But, probably Kelly's Heroes is my fav because it's so funny.

My fav line from Clint is from Unforgiven "Any man don't wanna get killed, better clear on out the back".

My fav line from one of his movies was Oddball "eating cheese, drinking wine, catching some rays, you know..."

Thank you Cat Driver and Mounted Madness, ya'll gave me a good laugh today.

Kelly' Heros is pretty good. I have not seen it in years but it has been playing on Directv a few times recently. I really love the theme song. I remember the song as a kid and I still like it.

I do remember seeing Clint's "monkey" movies in the theater. Boy those were odd movies. :D

Did anyone answer the question about dying in his part? I think the first one was the movie with he as a C&W singer on the way to Nasville to record a record, could have been Pink Cadillac. He had TB I think but I do beleive he died in that one. The last one no doubt was Grand Torino.

To really pick out the best Eastwood movie I'm a Unforgiven fan. Beyond that, you'd have to go by category, and there's alot there too but for drama,
Million Dollar Baby was simply outstanding. Comedy:Kelly's Heroes, War:Where Eagles Dare with Richard Burton, Suspense:the movie about Eastwood as a pilot stealing a state of the art Russian fighterplane, can't think of other categories right now.

Favorite out of so many:

Sheriff--You're William Mooney that killed women and children
Eastwood- Y, I'm William Mooney that killed women and children, and just about everything else that's walked or crawled. Now, I'm going to kill you.
