A trivia question first.
What is the first movie in which Eastwood's character died? And bonus question, the last?
My favorite was the Good, Bad, and Ugly. The absolute best scene of any western ever was the faceoff at the end where Eastwood stood cool and calm, not a bead of sweat, while the Bad and the Ugly melted in the heat. What really made it my favorite though was the fact that I saw it with my older brother one hot summer night. I was up late when he came home and he asked me to go with him. We sat outside the drive in watching until the ticket taker closed up and went home. Back in those days they would play the feature movie again after the second show, and it would play into the wee hours of the morning. Life was simple back then. We sneaked in the exit with the lights out and sat together watching Eastwood at his best. Eastwood was a bigger than life figure for sure, but my hero was my big brother. Ever since then I can be flipping channels late at night and run across anything with Eastwood in it, and I stop right there. My brother died ten years ago, but in my heart he still watches those old movies with me.
