I am really close to pulling the trigger on a john deere 2520 and was looking at the frontier tiller, I can't remember if it was a 48" or 55" but I can get the tiller for $600 of with the John Deere special going on. I am just wondering if it is a quality unit worth $1600 (Normally around $2100)??? I am holding off on the mower deck right now and just getting the FEL for it. Looking to fill the rear tires and add chains to the rear. Thanks!!!!

I think I would go with the Deere 655 tiller and it is probably included in the rebate program too. I have a 673 and have been well pleased with it. Enough that I ordered a new 647 tiller for the X749 today.

If the Frontier and Deere were about the same price, I would take the Deere simply because it is the same color and brand as the tractor. They are both good tillers and both will last a long time.

Does Sicma or Maschio make those Italian tillers for Deere and Frontier? Ken Sweet

I don't know who makes them Ken. I don't think it really maters eather because they are made with JD specs.

I am pretty sure the only thing the bigger manufacturers spec is the paint color. This is based on 34 years of watching this type thing. Ken Sweet

I was told today by a Deere dealer that they are made by Maschio, but I didn't go look at them to verify that.

Ken Sweet knows who makes the tillers, he was trying to be coy.

If so... I'm not sure why a person that sells similar italian equipment would be pointing that out.

Everyone know that the best tillers are made right here in the good ol' USA by King Kutter! :D

The OP is asking about a Deere/Frontier tiller that he can get a discount on, so even if he wanted to buy a Machio, Howard, KingKutter or whatever this discount wouldn't apply. $1600 for the Deere or Frontier tiller is a reasonalble price imo.
