:( What the hey?! Most warranty is calender not hrs. And it was loose not disconnected. Why do you assume the tach wasnt working? ... and if it wasnt, and does have more than shows on the clock that tends to substantiate the OPs claim of regular use which people have been assuming as a lie.

Yes, almost all warranty is based on the calendar, not the hours. But in regards to resale value, hours has a lot of impact on what a seller asks/gets for the unit. I don't think anyone would disagree that the same model tractor with high hours would not sell for the same price as one with low hours.

Many times, I have seen hour meters disabled to keep them from running up too high. This has included Tach cables being "loose". I was inspecting one vehicle where the spedometer wasn't working and was told it "just happened". On closer inspection, I found that the assembly had been reinstalled wrong, and based on dirt and grime- it had been done very recently. I then questioned the validity of the "low miles"

As for most cable assemblies, the adjustments are there, because fine adjustments may be needed. Thereby, it could be over tightened or loossened to the point it's intended purpose is not achieved.

Because the obvious answer is it gives the owner of the tractor no ground to stand on and that coupled with his attitude speaks volumes.
:confused2: I dont follow your line of thought. At worst the tach cable is inconsequential. At most it could be a factor in the low hours .. as could an rpm responding hr meter - like mentioned previously but ignored conveniently in order to continue owner bashing without pause.

Ya know J_J, I always value your input, but, I almost wish that the guy was a TBN poster, and would 'post'!! Then we'd get 'his' take on this issue. JLS sounds like a 'straight up dealer' that's trying his best to make things right for a comsumer, that he'll likely never see again. No one here has really 'trashed' him, other than questioning the 'reasonability' of his claims and whether or not every, and all statements were truthfull! That's not "Trashing", at least in my opinion! I'm probably the most guilty, with my comment, after his reponse that free parts were not enough, and he wanted free labor also. It was then, I suggested "Store it send him the bill, and ask MF to recind their parts offer" or words to that effect. Facts: The unit was out of warrenty, The Owner signed, to say he did not want the XW. Not going 'Political' in this thread, but it seems we've become an entitlement society! Me, Me, Me! Well, if we fix this tractor, someone's 'paying the freight"!! Either in higher prices for the next production of MF tractors, or at JLS's, on your next service visit. ~S

I agree. I am not taking sides, but pointing out some facts. I am hoping that both sides will be satisfied with the end results.

Well tractor is back together and im just waiting on the customer now.

This will prove interesting.
I still think one more act of funny business but not shure of the form.
Will he show up with check and no cash?
Maybe try to sign any paperwork "under protest" or just refuse?
"Forgot" his cash and wants to charge it?
Slip and fall?

...or does he just head into the sunset, tail twix legs?

I put another beer in the fridge in anticipation of a proper outcome.
