No Trespassing...

Once it clears leather, your intent must be to use it, NOW. No warning shots or crap like that, all that does is give someone the argument that you had time for other options, or give the bad guy the chance to draw and shoot back. If they are a threat, drop em where they stand. Don't try to intimidate them or scare them off. You draw the weapon to defend yourself. If you are not capable of that, you probably shouldn't be carrying the weapon.

As awful as it sounds, dead men tell no tales.

Thats pretty much what I always tell someone when they ask me about a hand gun for home protection. I look em in eye and ask if they could kill someone. If they have to think about it, I tell them the phone is your best bet.

Pa. has been changing a few of their laws.

At one time, a 'no tresspassing sign', meant that you had the funds to purchase, and the ability to hang said sign...........that's about all. Anyone that would enter your property, legally or illegally, was your responsibility(they get hurt, you pay).

When I bought my property, my insurance agent recommended at least a 2 million dollar policy, unless I stopped the atv's from coming on my property.

The last I heard, Hunters cannot sue if they get hurt while hunting on your property, anyone else can.

That's not using a firearm as leverage?
The key word was combative. If a trespasser starts a fight in most states you have a right to defend yourself. If you're not sure of your states self defense and trespassing statutes it really would be a good idea to talk with a criminal defense attorney.

performing an act of self defense is legal.

using a gun as leverage in an argument is not.

I see NO CONFUSION between the two.

to illustrate. if you tell someone to leave and they want, and then you brandish your gun and wave it around an all.. then they likely can call the police on you.

on the other hand.. if you tell them to leave, and they instead charge you and you feel threatoned and in danger, and you draw your firearm in self defense.. that is different.

if they continue to charge and you think you are in danger.. at least in my state.. the law allows you to defend yourself.

if they turn and run. then good... no need to shot them as the threat has stopped. though i would for sure call and report it to the police.

black and white issue.. 2 seperate things.

self defense is not leverage.. it is immediate defense to protect you or another from an imminent threat of danger.

according to BP's location tag.. he lists that as N cen fl.. which I take to be north central florida.. IE.. somewhere a bit north of me.

bottom line is florida. it is a human rights / self defense friendly state.

someone attacks you.. you can stand your ground and defend yourself.

citizens should be aware of the laws in the location they live...

I know in my area (Fort McCoy) it is a rare Saturday that you don't hear somebody firing - be it target practice or hunting. My property is very close to a hunt club, so the "beware of gunfire" is not an idle threat. Biggest problem was when some of the hunters thought the fence on the backside of my property was not there for a reason and decided to cut it.

I fixed it and spent a few weeks in the same general area doing my own target practice and left the target's up when I finished directly in front of the newly repaired fence. So far, so good.:)

when I lived in a high crime neighborhood ( rental ).. I made a wind chime out of shotgun shells and rifle casings.

also scraped up a couple 5g buckets of shell casings from the range. left 1 by the front door, and scattered the other liberally on either side of the front door on either side of the steps. I can tell you they didn't come to my place while I lived there after that...
