What I'm describing is pretty minimal. Refer to the fifth picture. All that is needed is fore the bore to be made slightly larger diameter and the addition of a thick wall tube of the same height and just slightly larger diameter, (so the large shaft w/bolt will slide into it) welded in between the top and bottom 3/8" (or so) plates. I cannot see how such would add more than $10 to the assembly and greatly increase the bearing surface area.

Thats exactly the cost I had in mind when you discribed it. If they looked at the cost/benifit ratio I don't see how they wouldn't do it.

I suspect there isn't a standard pipe size that would fit snugly enough over the existing kingpin. Once you get into machining costs it does get more expensive, plus you have to have the lathe and keep it set up.

I've looked at the more expensive/heavy duty Land Pride blades, they do have a larger bearing surface for the kingpin. The 1572 is an "economy" model that would normally see relatively light/occasional use compared to a commercial model. Mine does just that, if it gets used an average of once a week over a year period that would be a lot for me.

Mine has very little wear in that area, I suspect it'll outlast me as long as I keep it greased.

In reference to the RBT1572 rear blade. If a full length sleave were to be welded in place, it would be almost impossable to install and tighten the blade pivot nut.
