I'd also go with some type of degreaser, commercial or just a good soap, let sit then rinse. The warmer the water the more it will help
We use purple power for this task. Get it at the auto parts store for under $10 per gallon and put it in a old spray bottle. For this task I use full strength. I use a ELECTRIC pressure washer also for this task. It has about 1500 psi, about half of what a gas? electric one does. Great for these tasks and washing cars.

What brand of electric pressure washer do you have Chris? I have though about getting one for cleaning stuff. I had a gas pressure washer for a house staining project and decided the engine maintenance wasn't worth it to keep it around, plus don't need all that pressure anyways.
Ditto on the advice to go easy around electrical. Just spraying a hose, if I direct too much against the cowling behind the engine, even my simple electrical system gets befuddled for a bit.
