Lawsuit regarding E15

Well if you get a tax write off on your losses, obviously YOU are getting a government subsidy!

Don't forget, the government pays for the roads you haul your cattle to the stockyards on, and your feed from the store to the farm, so that's even more government subsidies you get.

See how it works for these "anti big oil" outfits?

Ken

Just runnig a farm gets you a fairly good deduction. I'm not sure quite how it works as it's done by the tax software, but if I remove the farm my tax base is quite a bit higher. Much more than just the minor loss caused by the farm.

I actually did faily good this year in that I had $7K in deductions for repairs on the barn, equipment, and equipment depreciation and only had a $3K loss on the farm. The cattle on their own actually turned a profit. That will cause me to suffer for the next few years though because I reduced my herd from 14 to 5 head to cut off major economic woes due to a reduced income and increased personal expenses this winter. Even so, it's all good.

Let us not forget that WE are supposed to be the government but that somehow got lost along the way, I guess. How 'bout the huge "subsidies" to the 2 automakers and all the banks?

Don't shoot me, but I did much of the development work on E-15. Using it in equipment not designed for it may lead to problems. Alcohol is rather corrosive, and tends to attract moisture from the air making it even more so.
On my mini-sprinter, a race car much like a dirt track sprint car, smaller and everybody runs the same Honda 600cc motorcycle motor on straight menthol alcohol. At the end of the racing I use a system that changes the fuel source from alcohol to gasoline running the car until all alcohol is flushed out before putting it in the trailer.

Ya know, the exhaust from burning alcohol is formaldehyde. If you are not sure what that is, it is the same stuff your high school Biology teacher kept all his frogs in.

If gas mileage decreases at about the same percentage as the amount of ethanol added, how can you feel good about your accomplishment. Sounds like a failure to me. On a national scale.

I think you just confirmed what we are saying.

As for "follow the manual"...yeah, right! "Drain the tank". How does one do that without a safety or environmental risk? Oh I guess you can run it until it's empty, if you don't mind standing there holding the safety bail for 20 or 40 minutes. And gain, that's wasting resources and making unnecessary pollution.

No, I'm not very good at judging how much fuel to add to cut the lawn or cut up a tree. I hate running out of fuel and having to walk back to get more.

Ken

this is directly from the Echo manual
"THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER DAMAGE CAUSED BY:
Lack of lubrication or engine failure, due to the use of two-stroke oils that do not meet the ISO-L-EGD (ISO/
CD 13738) and JASO M345/FC/FD Standards. Engine problems due to inadequate lubrication caused by
failure to use an ISO-L-EGD compliant and JASO M345/FC/FD registered oil, will void the two-stroke engine
warranty. ECHO Power Blend Two-Stroke Oil meets the ISO-L-EGD and JASO Standard M345/FC/FD.
Emission related parts are covered for 2 years regardless of two-stroke oil used, per the statement listed in
the EPA or California Emission Defect Warranty Explanation.
[b Damage caused by use of gasohol, containing methanol (wood alcohol), or gasoline containing less than 89
octane. Only use gasoline which contain 89 octane or higher. Gasohol which contains a maximum 10%
ethanol (grain alcohol) or 15% MTBE (methyl/tertiary/butyl/ether) is also approved. The prescribed mixing
ratios of gasoline to oil is listed on the ECHO oil label and covered in your operatorç—´ manual.
]

Note; this has changed since ethanol became mandatory. The manual for my 3 YO echo states that any use of ethanol will void the warrantee.

I was always taught to put my saw away ready to use again; fuel and oil reservoirs topped off; filters cleaned and chain sharpened.

Stop the corn-based ethanol insanity.
The only thing "green" about it is all the green-backs profited by those involved.

I don't know... my ATV carburetor was pretty green last time I took it apart; from 3 week old gas, no less. I guess it had been in the vendor's storage tank for a while. :(

I just read, due to heavy pressure by the CGA regarding slumping profits due to Argentina and Brazil orange sales, that their lobbiest have pursuaded the EPA to mandate that starting in 2012 all motor oil sold in the U.S. must contain a minimum 10% citrus oil. The EPA will be releasing a press statement detailing how this inclusion of an environmentally green US based resource will help wean citizens off of our foreign oil dependence. The EPA further states that vehicle owners should not see any dramatic decrease in engine life.

That stinks. The citrus additive is known to be harmful to the turbonencabulator secretly installed by the gubmint on vehicles built since 1969.
