Got one. He is one of the best.

You can keep him :D He maybe a nice guy{and possibly know his way around an engine}, but if he is saying ethanol is not an issue then he needs to do some research.

He says the gas is the problem that any problems he see are universal between E10 and neat gas.

I'll assume by neat gas you mean missing ethanol, I'd like to see his studies to back this up? Where does he get straight gas to perform his research?

I don't see what is contradictory. Surly a guy that works on 100's of saw a month is going to see the gauntlet of issues.

He knows for a FACT that certain saws/small engines were only run on certain fuels? He can 100% say/prove that Joebob's saw never had ethanol in it?

I have about a dozen Stihl small engines that have run on pretty much nothing but E10.

You also say you use additives ;) I also do, and I'd not be willing to take a gamble on running them without. You should get your mech to right a full report of his findings then he could put all of our minds to ease{along with the rest of America}? Sorry but I honestly believe your crasping at straws on this one Duffster. If you or your mechanic can prove me wrong PLEASE do so, I will eat crow if you're right :) Seen to many examples of gas-ethanol causing problems, we never had these issue's until ethanol came along. Also lets not forget the proven decrease in milage on road vehicles, this alone shows it isn't worth squat.

I took part of your quote to simply respond to that part and build upon it.

You and me and the other gearheads might object to E15 and what it does, but we are outnumbered by those that don't know or care. That was my point and not an attempt to twist your total comment.

I certainly don't see where this was taken out of context. It's a single line in a separate one line paragraph. You gave us the option that we have and I'm in total agreement with it.

The only choice we have around here is to use it, or else adopt an Amish lifesty

Not sure that would work either, up here the amish are becoming quite modern.

Well, comparatively speaking I remember working up around Canton about 10 years ago and seeing them come into town with their horses and buggies.
We have a village of Mennonites up this way that make their livlihoods building sheds and selling steel roofing... but they still use their horses and bicycles. Kind of different to pass a combine, and find that it's being pulled by a team of horses.

Okay so the car manual says do not exceed 10 percent ethanol mix..It is a 2010 model car, it does get 2 mpg better on neat gas. So the Gov. forces me to buy a Gm Volt, that they sponser? 41,000 dollars so we can burn more coal to make electricity? Not likely? No "the sky is not falling", but some of this really smells rotten. Jy.
