Comparison R4's or Turf tires?

My vote is for R1's. Turfs are worthless for ground engagement jobs and forget skidding logs. R4's are a little tougher but are more prone to get you stuck than R1's.

I have had both R4's and 2 tractors with R1's and over all the R1's did less damage. Takes just one time of getting stuck to make a big mess.

For 10 acres I would go R4 tires on a 3320, since you will be all over the place doing all types of work. Then in a couple of years you can get a lawn tractor with turf tires.

...but the title is "R4's or Turf tires?" :D

You could have picked "C" none of the above... ;)

And to throw in another option, check out the "HD Field Trax" that you can get on the Gator and X700 Series (the "All-Trail" is similar):
Carlisle HD Field Trax

They are basically a deep-tread turf tire with more biting edges near the shoulder of the tire. I would consider them on par with an R4 but less aggressive on your lawn. Of course it depends on whether or not they are available in the size you need (they may not go large enough for a 2320's wheels).

I sure can't improve on the advice given by Kuoa and others, so I will defer to them. We have tractors with all types and even one with both.

I was stuck with the same problem when purchasing my 3120. I did not have much experience with anything other than turfs on a riding mower. I opted for the R4's and have learned to use them without harming the lawn. When the ground is wet I don't travel across the lawn. And as has been said the biggest problem I see with the R4's is turning the wheel while sitting still.

You got some paint ball action going on over there?

I have both a set of R1 and turf tires for my 3320 and I have gon to using the r1 pretty much exclusively. If my yard is dry it does not tear it up. If it is wet it does. For every thing else the r1 tires are the best (loader work, etc)

So the bottom line is the R4's kinda SUCK in all conditions, but they can do it all. lol

I like my R4's, but they are just so useless in snow.

All in all, they are the OK tire for doing everything, but they really don't do much really really well.

I'd still pick R4 over Turf anyday.

280 sounds about right for a paintball. or a really fast arrow.
