Guess I will have some fun tomorrow. Only 5 inches or so, but it will be the first time with the big Kubota L. The little BX24 had a heck of a time last year with the 18 inches or so. The L should really have an easy time with the 5 inches.

Well, I induced the snow by removing my tire chains. This snow is as heavy and slick as I've seen - I suspect they'll go back on before too much clearing gets done.

Well thanks. I have a flight to Europe in the afternoon for a business trip and I would have rather avoided this snow. Next time, please keep your chains on.

Sorry guys but I caused the snow.
Tuesday I removed the plow and hitch and reinstalled to loader and BH so I could goof around in the near balmy 45 degree weather.
We got closer to 8 inches but it is very heavy.

Heh, you to 'eh. I've heard the roads are littered with abandoned cars and plows are having a hard time as they have to dodge all the cars.

I failed to put my chains on, and after one attempt at pushing snow, I went back to the barn and put 'em on.

Much better with chains, but the bx just does not weigh enough for snow pushing.

Add a full weight box on the rear and you will be amazed at how well it works!

Ok - the chains will stay on until spring, even though they make for an exciting ride on dry pavement. FYI, I attempted to move snow without for about ten minutes before realizing the utter futility of it. Oh what a difference they make.

I am an extreme commuter. I stayed home on this one. Today listening to the news, it might go down as the worst commuting day in DC at surrounding counties HISTORY.

The combination of rain, prevent pre-treatment,
the sleet that came down, added to the hazards of driving,
the snow as fast moving and fast "dumping" as it was 2-3 inches an hour, PLUS
the governments EARLY dismissal, just compounded the traffic. PLOWS were stuck as well as commuters.....
10-12-14 hour commmutes, 96 abandoned cars on ONE parkway, were the norm.....

INCREDIBLE.
At the height of the storm, I heard 400,000 customers without power.
INCREDIBLE.

I too missed this one, I commute 65 miles to Rockville, MD from Berkekey County WV, but told my boss I knew I could get my work done remotely and stayed home. A co-worker who travels half my commute (he stops before he hits the mountains) got home in 7 hours! I worked from home today too, no power at the office. Gotta love the internet!!

I too am an extreme commuter---50 miles each way every day. Luckily I got out ahead of the crowd and it only took me an extra hour to get home. Many others not so lucky. Went into the office this morning and the roads looked like a war zone---cars everywhere, 2' piles of snow in the MIDDLE of four lanes. I had a couple hours of seat time in already though, plowing my drive and the neighbor's so I was in a good state of mind! The BX handled the heaviest 8" of snow I think I've ever seen without too much trouble. A little wheel spin here and there and I had to use the FEL to dig through the pile at the end of the driveway, but the rest was quick and easy. No chains, just a 5' rear blade and FEL with R1's.
