I'm getting a block heater installed sometime before next winter. We don't get negative numbers very often, but it was single digits when I needed to use the 2660 to bring wood up to the house. I used the truck instead. The tractor is easier to load and unload.

If ya don't need it often, ya could try putting a light bulb under the hood over night perhaps, specially if she's in the barn. I have used the light bulb trick quite a few times on other things...like thawing frozen windshiel wiper washers and such. You would be surprised at how much heat it can throw over the course fo a night if its protected from the wind.

It's in my woodshed which is completely open on one side and the boxing on the other 3 sides was purposely left spaced to allow air flow for the firewood. The tractor doesn't get rained or snowed on, but that is about the extent of the protection it enjoys. I just got finished running power out there today for lights and an outlet.

I think our 3940 clicks off in about 5 or 6 seconds.

OT: Since they fixed those glow plugs the wifes says it fires off in like
1 to 2 seconds no matter what the temp. :D

I have a block heater, the kind that goes in the block not the radiator hose. I just plug it in the day before I need it and it fires up like summer time with no need for the glo plugs at all. It was only $80 installed at the dealler and will save a lot of wear on the engine.

We have had some very cold weather this year in the Albany area. I have an engine block heater installed on my B3030. On the very cold mornings I just go out to the barn and plug it in and return to the house. After having a cup of coffee I'm ready to go back out, turn the key, count to 10 to preheat the glow plugs and she starts right up.

It was -29c here today with a wind-chill of -43c, I had the Kubota plugged in for perhaps one hour and it fired right up, no glow plugs, I do however also have a battery blanket to keep the cranking power up. A battery blanket is a great investment.

My Kubota sits out in the open all winter long so go figure.

You better go stock up on those incandescent bulbs before they become illegal.

Spotlight or par 38 work best, but others just need to be closer. Btw, they will be outlawed in the near future...Going green?
