Buying Advice ym2000BD is the price right?

I hate to say it but I think you're right. A used second-tier tractor Mahindra, Kyoti, etc on Cragslist will cost about the same and have more features like power steering, rear remotes etc. It may have under 200 hours. I would still budget the same reserve for unexpected repairs however.

As I see it, a less expensive used Yanmar is a great bargain because they're indestructible. However paying an additional $4000 for pride-of-ownership pretty and the right to call it 'reconditioned' is not the best use of my money. I would buy a shiny Yanmar-manufactured Deere if I put more importance on impressing my neighbors - but it's not a consideration. Maybe if I ran a Dressage stable or something.

I'm reminded of a comment from Rick Steve, PBS travel correspondent and tour guide. People ask him how his tour customers can afford international travel on middle-class salaries. He said there is one major factor - his customers drive their cars ten years instead of trading in every three years like the manufacturers want you to do. The difference is what makes funds available for travel. Different people make different choices; this is how they prefer to spend their money.

Also, was the Craigslist ad you saw include the 4wd "d" model?

Right, i forgot we were talking 4wd and your talking a 2000B right.
No the one i saw was a plain ym2000 2wd non fancy dash model.

as far as the plow id go with only 1 bottom, i dont have one, but am lookin, these tractors do not have the weight and therefore traction to pull a 2 bottom.

Buyer beware...with anything anymore. Looks like a different tractor to me but no reason to not be extra cautious...especially for that much coin. If the ad is real, I'd bet that it is being sold for what is owed on it.

My point Exactly.... If I was looking to br Purchasing a Tractor my Butt would be all over that. Since your in the market to buy a tractor check on it let us know what comes about with it.

Its difficult to find a used name brand with the specs I'd like. I enjoy simplistic gear transmission and no power steering versus complicated and expensive potential repairs. I was looking into a JD 850 not too long ago and ended up at about the same price as a recon Yanmar. I know its the same animal but a recon yanmar has at least a short warranty. I find the warranty useful just to prevent a near-term catastrophic failure becoming a total loss of investment. If that makes sense.

I pull a 2 row disc type turning plow with my 2002d, same horse power as the 2000. Horsepower is not the issue. Traction is. In my opinion the disc type plow pulls easier than a bladed plow. I just put fluid in my rear tires and have not used the turning plow since and probably won't until next winter. Summing all this up, I have used a 1 bottom blade plow and pulled it with no trouble at all but I really think a 2 bottom would be to much if you have hard soil. Soft soil you would be ok.

Thanks for the plow input Clemsonfor and Winston. One blade it shall be. Since I have some pretty tough stuff to dig into. 2 would make the job quicker, but I think I'll enjoy the extra seat time!

IMO.just like alot of people just get a tiller. Thats all I use In my Rock Hard Ga. Red Clay. Worst case senario I would drop the splines on my BB. if needed. Never have though Here is a pic with my RS 1400.
