120 acres used for hunting whitetails and turkeys mostly. 50 acres tillable but will be farmed by local farmer. Need tractor for rough cutting, loader, tiller for food plots ( 1-4 acre, several plots ) and general maintenance. Ground is along flowing creek and hillsides. Illinois. May need to do some discing if tiller doesn't get it done. Dealer thinks tiller is way to go after cutting everything down in food plots and maybe a 6-8 foot disc if needed. Dealer thinks 3520 with weights for price and 4520 if price isn't as big an issue. Both hydro. Plan on keeping tractor for a long time. Can I get some opinions on the 3520 versus 4520 tractors. Which one do I want to order?
Quote was 3520 - $26,000 with cx loader, 4520 - $36,000 with cx loader

Both have R4's, dual mid and rear scv's,

Thanks.

I believe each have their place. If money doesn't matter, I'd go with the 4520 :)D it's bigger).

But the 3520 will do the job.

Looks as though he is being quoted list price.:D

endchiro, I would look at the Deere site configurator to build your own and then deduct about 15% discount.

but value for money spent is what its all about.the sad thing is they over charge for a compact because they know small land holders will pay it.

Are those prices for Open station or Cab machines?

I think I would work out a package with a 4520cab, 6 rear wheel weights, a 681 tiller,400CX loader with heavy duty bucket and an MX7 cutter for about
$44k to 45k. You would be good to go. I would think long and hard about not getting a cab for this tractor. This equipment and the low rate financing isn't going to be this way for long. Both are going to rise.

Is this work going to be done in your spare time or is time an important consideration?

If nimbleness and space is an issue (cleaning out stalls), then you would want the 3520.

I would go with the stronger of the 2 if I only had to have 1.

You need to shop around more for your JD quotes. Seem high.

These tractors have more options than a MX5100
