I missed the 5' part.:confused2:

I'd be using plasma or torches

Kinda depends on what cutting tools you have access to.:D

The roller jig with a fixed torch idea sounds good. :D

I am with Craig on the roller jig. If two of the rollers are fairly narrow and round in profile, they should keep the pipe from slipping sideways. Then you could duct tape a 4 1/2" angle grinder to a stationary frame with a weighted arm, turn it on, and slowly turn the pipe with one hand and drink beer with the other. Use 1/16" thick high quality discs.

Or, if the metal is 14ga or thinner, for not much more than the price of the grinder you will burn up and the 20 or so discs at $2/3 each, you could buy a Hett nibbler ($300+) that will be available for later jobs.

Thank you very much for the ideas. I like the roller jig concept but I need to keep this as simple as possible or it won't be worth the effort. Maybe I could treat it like a large log on the ground and start all of my 4' cuts on the 20' section, then roll cut roll cut roll cut etc.

I have a torch and also access to a gas cut off saw but I love any excuse to buy new tools if they have possible future uses. Plasma and metal cutting skill type saw sounds like a good plan also.

I would go with the plasma. Cutoff saw would work but that would be more work and noise then the plasma. Besides like you said tool buying is fun

If the corrugations are spiral, make a "pipe wrap" out of a 16' roll of flashing. Wrap it around the pipe snug with the ends matching and use it as a guide to mark square cuts. If the corrugations are square of course you can just follow a corrugation.

I like the concept of a carbide metal cutting blade in a circular saw and rolling the pipe over flat ground. Dont forget the ear plugs.

I would go with your torch or buy a plasma as I said in my first post.

I have a metal saw as pictured by Dufster and I wouldn't want to wield that beast on a 5' pipe for 40 cuts. It would sound like an invasion force with that saw.

I have cut a 4' pipe and used my torch, easy and fast without all the racket. I have a plasma, but the torch was easier at the time (no electric for compressor). I have also bought an odd length before, also a 4' and they cut it with a torch at the pipe company.

I just used a chain thrown over the culvert and cut the pipe using the chain as a standoff point.

If you take a saw, nibblers, throw the torch in the truck, you'll be using it before you finish the first one I'd bet.

Torch or plasma.
Galvanized: stand up wind. Drink plenty of milk afterwards.

It pains me to use a tool that I already own without buying something new, but I guess I can give it a try.

oooooo, the tanks are so heavy
oooooo, I willl have to take the tanks off so I can load the cart into my truck
oooooo, it's so hard to pull the cart in gravel
oooooo, I'll burn up all of my oxygen

Quit ur whining and use what ya got. Yeah, but plasma would be cool. You don't know anything about plasma. I could learn. You don't have electricity. I have a generator. You will probably burn up your cheap*** compressor. I could buy a bigger high quality one. QUIT UR WHINING AT USE WHAT YA GOT!!! Well......ok :(
