Ignoring safety warnings and bypassing safety devices

The first thing I did on my zero turn was disable the seat safety switch. I know that my foot could get stuck under the deck and chop it off but I am the only operator and it is much easier without it. My Kubota is from 1990 there are no dumb safety switches anywhere. I also disabled the lid safety on my food processor so that I could stick larger vegetables in it.

Personally, I wouldn't disable any safety gear...except for that reverse blade switch (stops the blades from turning when you reverse) if I had a lawn tractor with that switch (I do not).
One thing I do see on TBN too regularly is pictures of folks operating their tractor with the ROPS folded (there's about 6-7 on the site as I type this).
To me, that's nuts...especially considering the majority of posts in the safety forum deal with tractor roll overs of some sort...too often fatal and very often with very experienced operators.

You're all adults and you do what ever you want with your equipment...but leaving that ROPS down just isn't a good idea.

If the seat switch just set off a buzzer, I'd happily leave it, but will it intermitently kills and restarts the tractor in a jerky throw you against the window fashion while driving in rough terrain (like one would be expected to do in a tractor) it will stay disconnected. All my large tractors have no such switch and people manage to stay alive on those.

Putting a safety sticker on something won't cure stupid. Common sense should prevail, but many lack it. I know a commercial landscaper that stuck his hand under a running mower, over the deck, to replace a thrown belt. He almost lost a digit. I wonder how he's lived this long.

Does HF have a manual for ANY of their products that doesn't tell you to use safety glasses?

I think I'll get dad to buy me a set of safety glasses next time he goes to HF. Could be interesting reading...

(That's a 5 point harness, actually) I really don't like that "roll cage". It looks to be one inch tubing (for reference, the harness is definitely 3 inch wide, industry standard) I'd certainly wouldn't trust it to not collapse in the event of a roll over, either sideways or over backwards. It is simple too light for the weight and forces that would be imposed on it. As you can see, there is no diagonal in the structure behind the driver nor even any gussets at the joints, in a side roll, that would easily collapse and the driver would likely be crushed plus the one shoulder strap would guillotine him from the side. It would be like expecting something designed as a sun shade only on a tractor to protect you in a roll over.
Other than that, the tracked machine rocks!
