Ignoring safety warnings and bypassing safety devices

back in the dark ages, i was learning to be a machinist. the guy teaching me said," this machine will ALLWAYS try to hurt you, your job is to see that doesnt happen." i have found that goes for a lot of things in life.

I did not want to remove my seat safety switch but I modified the sensitivity on my seat switch on my BX2660 and made a big difference. Have not had any more problems and yet the safety switch still works if I get off the seat.

BX2660 Deluxe Reclining Seat Kill Switch Adjustment Project.
Well, I pulled the seat apart and was surprised at where the switch was located. Basicly the switch is located beneath the cushion and is located right between my legs where there is the least downward pressure. (manly equipment related comments not required.)
For the photo, I placed a white dot directly where the switch is. If they had put the switch 2-3 inches further back, there would not be a problem.
As you can see in the photo, it is a small push button switch with a 2" diameter cover. What I did was place a 2"x5"x1/4" piece of plexiglass against the bottom of the cushion where the switch goes. I placed a dot of silicon on the cushion to keep the plexiglass in place. This gives wider and more uniform downward pressure on the switch.
End result is Problem Solved. Switch works great with much less pressure.

You should read atleast once, then you can ignore stickers and devices. Reading once you will know somewhat about that equipment safety and usage. Don't ignore totally.

When you realize that safety warnings and safety devices are placed on more and more things today to protect the manufactures from lawsuits,

They essentially loose all purpose.

As mike row so rightly puts it.

"Head first, feet second, safety third"

I take responsibility for my own actions. I dont need anyone to tell me what they think is safe or unsafe for me.
