I just went to the JD site and "built" one with as close a match as possible to the Kubota build site. JD came in at $40,012.00 versus K at $34,472.00. These are of course MSRP and do not reflect what a dealer would do, but it sure places a heckuva head start for the JD dealer to compete against.

I know nothing about that JD product; am I missing something in the price structure?

Sirs,

My wife wants a smaller Cab tractor (with HST) with a front mounted snow blower, and to pull a Caroni 59" Flail mower.

All of my knowledge revolves around our L5303HSTC and similar or larger genre.

My first reflex is a Kubota B3030HSDCC (soon to be re-badged as B3000). I have no problem with that make and model if that is "The One", but I do not want to shortchange our knowledge.

Would you folks be so kind as to suggest comparative models from other manufacturers at a similar quality level?

Thank you

Mahindra 5010 HST Cab with HVAC system.

My big tractor is a 2008 Mahindra 5525 (54 hp engine, 45 hp pto, 2WD, gear tranny), a big, heavy, powerful brute with the ML250 FEL (6-ft wide bucket, 2950 lb lift to 10.5 ft height). Cast iron frame, sheet metal (not plastic) body.

It don't sound like you need to large a tractor and you didn't mention a loader. A TYM T293 Hydro Cab with a 60" Front mount blower, and a loader would be in the $23000 to $25000 range, and it would easily handle your 60" flail mower. Check it out.

You don't need a really big tractor to do what you want, although the bigger tractor may ride better.

I have a Kioti CK27HST and a Caroni 60" flail with hydraulic offset and mow lots of grass with it. It is a great combination. Not an option because you want a cab, and with a cab, if you are in a southerly state, you need A/C. Just the greenhouse effect of my cabs mean I turn on the A/C even when I might need a jacket outside.

I am sure the Kubota would be ok. Check out he Deere 3000 series. They will be priced similarly to the Kubota.

Flusher,

This will be my wife's "lawnmower and snowblower"; we already have a Kubota L5030HSTC which is similar to your suggested Mahindra.

LAWALLSTRACTOR,

Yes, I will equip it with a loader. I will examine your TYM suggestion.

charleyfarmall,

We wanted to stay in the B3030 size range for the intended duties. I did check on a JD 3320 and based on the build your own website (only, so dealer may be significantly different), it came in significantly higher than a similar equipped B3030.

It seems like a factory cabbed tractor in that size range is a niche market.

The B3030 (B3000) would be physically comparable to the JD 2720 - but JD does not offer a factory cab so you have to go up to the 3320. You are now comparing oranges and green apples... The B3030 is what we would call a "small-frame" compact while the 3320 would be a "mid-frame" compact. The 3x20 series Deere usually would compete with the Grand L Kubotas. I hope that helps explain some of the price difference. If you compared the Grand L to the 3x20 series they would be much closer.
