I bought a Prince MB Series valve a while back when I saw it come available at Surplus Center. I am going to use it like a 3rd function to control my grapple. I am now starting that project. My question is: Will I need to paint the valve to protect it from the elements or is it OK the way it is. I notice my loader valve is painted black. If I should paint it, seems like I should do it first ? Thanks

It's probably a good idea to clean it and paint to help slow down the rust invasion. Usually, over time, the valve might leak just a little and coat the valve with hyd fluid. My hyd valve is coated with oil, but there are no drips that I can see.

Thanks J.J. I was wondering if it would rust like bare steel or is it made of a rust resistant material that takes a long time to get rusty?

Paint it now...it will rust fast as it's just plain cast iron. Degrease it good beforehand.
