Tires Recommended Fluid for tires

I have heard of people using a mix of water and methanol. I don't know what the mix ratio is but locally methanol is $2.50 per gallon. I'm thinking of using that replacing the calcium ballast in one of my tractors if I can figure out the mixture.

I dont know how well this will come out. but here is a chart:

Thanks, your chart will be very helpfull.
If anyone uses methonal, be very carefull!!!!

remember.. you don't have to mix for ful freeze protection.. slushy is ok.. :)

I was thinking where I live in WV of going with about 35% methonal and 65% water.
That would be good to -15. I don't remember it ever being that cold for more than a day or so.
Think that would be OK Soundguy?

I checked around for prices to fill my 17.5x24 rear tires in MA and the first place I called that was closest to me wanted $$$$750 dollars to fill the two tires :confused2:

I called a place out in spencer (ahern power or something like that) and they quoted me $350 to do the tires  I was happy with that and since I ordered my grapple and valve kit through them I'm gonna have them fill the tires with Rimguard as well when they do the install. It will add about 1250 lbs total so I will be very happy with that.

If your tires are already filled that is a huge bonus, other than the high cost of Rimguard I don't see any disadvantage to it.

if you had the rimguard your self, you could fill them using a drill pump and save some cash.

filling tires is easy...

I have a piece of 12" pipe with both ends welded up, a 2" fill fitting on the top with a 1/4" fitting welded into the bottom. Just add your fluid, hook up to your tire and pressurize the tank and the fluid goes right into the tire. The only thing you have to do is let the pressure equalize between each fill. The tank only holds about 6" gallons. So after your done with the methonal, hook up the water hose to finish it off.
I'll try and post a picture of it when I get home. The wife and I are on vacation this week.
