Supposedly Deere is now making their CUT tractors in Augusta. I don't know this for sure though.

nope..according to my local JD dealer, unless i buy a tractor greater than 200HP....they are made in japan (Yanmar) and painted green

i also found this quote in an industry link...not sure why it states india....

.To expand its global presence in Ag equipment, John Deere established a green field project in 1999 under a 50:50 joint venture with Larsen & Toubro Limited (L&T) — An engineering company of repute from India. A state of the art tractor manufacturing plant for 5000 series John Deere tractors was set up at Sanaswadi, near Pune, in the state of Maharashtra. These tractors were introduced in India in early 2000.

In 2005, Deere & Company acquired nearly all the remaining shares in this joint venture. The new enterprise, John Deere Equipment Private Limited, Sanaswadi, Pune, india, operates through a network of 15 area offices, 4 zonal offices and 270 authorized dealers spread across the country.

The factory currently produces modern tractors of 35, 40, 42, 47, 50, 55 and 70 Hp capacities for domestic markets. Tractors manufactured in Sanaswadi are also exported to the USA, Mexico, Turkey, North and South Africa, and South East Asia. The company has received awards for export excellence in 2005 and 2006 from the Engineering Export Promotion Councle

hmmm. india??

That picture is REALLY interesting. Any kind of modern manufacturing is "just in time" where your not sitting on gobs of tractors like that. Deere is paying for all that inventory, its a horribly wasteful process, They are also all sitting out in the weather, they are on tires so you can only ship a handful at a time... far less than when you skid them and send them in a container. I'm shocked, I would think Deere of all companies would be using more modern processes.

This KMA/KIE who is cranking out several magnitude more tractors than Deere does in Agusta (and actually building some, rather than just putting tires on)... notice the total lack of inventory sitting outside.

What is your point? That it is all under roof?

Deere, as well as every other global manufacturer today,
has plants all over the world. this is from an independent
site, and is somewhat incomplete, but it does show a general
idea of what JD tractor are/were built where.
notice the 2210/2305 show in the unknown section,
but you can bet those were japan. also in that section
are more of the 3020 series, but they are built in GA
with the 3520 that is listed in Augusta.

No. Without writing a long disertation on business practices, modern manufacturing does not look like that... it looks like KMA.

This whole conversation about what is built where really depends on what your defenition of "Made in the USA" is. Most of these companies will souce tractors from Japan, bolt on tires here and call it "made in GA". Its all in the details.
