Supposedly Deere is now making their CUT tractors in Augusta. I don't know this for sure though.
nope..according to my local JD dealer, unless i buy a tractor greater than 200HP....they are made in japan (Yanmar) and painted green
That picture is REALLY interesting. Any kind of modern manufacturing is "just in time" where your not sitting on gobs of tractors like that. Deere is paying for all that inventory, its a horribly wasteful process, They are also all sitting out in the weather, they are on tires so you can only ship a handful at a time... far less than when you skid them and send them in a container. I'm stocked, I would think Deere of all companies would be using more modern processes.
This KMA/KIE who is cranking out several magnitude more tractors than Deere does in Agusta (and actually building some, rather than just putting tires on)... notice the total lack of inventory sitting outside.

I was going to say the same thing but you put it much more eloquently than I would ofYour dealer is an idiot
What is your point? That it is all under roof?
Deere, as well as every other global manufacturer today,
has plants all over the world. this is from an independent
site, and is somewhat incomplete, but it does show a general
idea of what JD tractor are/were built where.

No. Without writing a long disertation on business practices, modern manufacturing does not look like that... it looks like KMA.
...I find this really interesting... here is another for comparision.

Ths is CNH's primary hay equipment plant (its 20 minutes from me)... huge place.
I caught this picture of the grounds keeper cleaning up? she's not on a JD...

Well, at least I didn't buy some thing that was built/assembled/made in China1. The JD fans are above this sort of thing and will not respond in kind.
I love Bing maps/birds eye view,
here's a link (i hope) to someplace else
in PA, zoom all the way in, then
back out,
(should be manheim auto auctions)
John Deere agricultural tractors are built in Waterloo, Iowa, USA. Lawn mower tractors are built in Horicon, Wisconsin. Utility tractors are built in Grovetown, Georgia, USA. Other utility tractors sold in countries other than the US are built in Pune, India. Larger European tractors are built in Mannheim, Germany. And finally, other smaller foreign to the US tractors are built in Zona Centro, Saltillo, Coah. C.P., Mexico.

My own 3520 was built with parts from all over the world in Augusta, Georgia, and shipped from there to France which made it very expensive and not totally compatible with local safety regulations. Pity they don't produce them in Germany with the big ones.
