*Last spring when I filled up my 275 gallon tanks with HHO I asked them to fill up a 55 gallon drum and top off the dozer.
*The driver told me that by law he couldn't sell me HHO if he knew it was going into equipment.
*Since he had off road diesel on the truck he switched hoses and filled up the dozer and drum.
* I was told that since they have gone to ultra low sulfur off road diesel they have to add a lubricant so it was better to use off road Diesel over HHO.
*What I was told is that in October of 2007 it became illegal for sellers of HHO to knowingly sell it for use in off road vehicles (any diesel engine that moves at least once a year, no matter how, qualifies as a vehicle).
*The intent was that only fuels with less than 500 ppm of sulfur could be used in off road vehicles.
*The dealers were unclear if the law said only HHO of 500 or more or if it just said HHO.
*So to be safe and the fact that HHO doesn't need the lubricant they sell it as two different products.
*Turns out the trucks they use have two tanks in them.
One for HHO and the other alternates between Kerosene and off road diesel.
*They have to flush the tank when making the swap so they only deliver Kerosene one day a week.
In the winter the trucks can't make it up my driveway and I needed some off road diesel so last month I picked up 55 gallons from a different company. The one I usually dealt with didn't want to mess with me bringing them a 55 gallon drum to fill. So I again asked and was told the same thing.
* Now it could be a Vermont thing or a national thing, I don't know.
