When the galvanization wears off it will rust and that does not make it stronger, only prone to staving off rust for a time.
Sure looks like a strong grapple, even w/o the galvanization.
The hot dipped galvanized (zinc coating) are used to protect steel from corrosion. The galvanized surfarce is self sacrificing which means the coating slowly sacrifices itself to the protect the base steel. unlike paint the galvinized coating, becomes part of the steel. We have sold the galvinized cutters for about 7 yrs and we have real rocks here in middle TN, and they hold up very well! I have yet to see one rust or any of the welds crack but everybody has there own opinions
