Tires what size wheels and tires for a Yanmar 186D

I recently purchased a Yanmar 186D. It has a 15" rim with car tires on the front. This only allows for wide turns. What size wheels and tires are correct for this tractor?

Those are huge front tires for a 4wd. If the rears are sized accordingly, you will have to change them also, to prevent damage to the front wheel drive.

Oops I was way off sorry about that folks.

That confused me too. Just one of the minor differences between the built-for US YM186D, and the Japan-market YM1510D.

I need a low profile to get under my orchard trees so the US version on 16" wheels is a better choice than the 1510's 18" wheels.

The only other differences I have noticed are a 2-speed pto with internal overrun clutch, and a big external hydraulic filter. Maybe the air filter? These are essentially the same tractor with different options bolted on.

Oh and a minor point on front tires: 6-12 is what belongs on there to go with 9.5-16 rear. The common US size 6.00x12 is taller and stresses the 4wd, since this larger tire goes farther per revolution.

According to my calculations based on firestone ag numbers of 69" circumference on the 6-12 and 98" on the 9.5-16 the front to rear ratio would have to be in the 1.45 to 1 + or - range to be correct. Anybody have that ratio?

Per the original service manual, front 6-12, rear 9.5-16. This is for the 189D.

The wheels for the ag tires are 8X16 and 5X12.

There were also optional wide turf tires 31X15.5X15 and 23.5X8.0X10.
The wheels for these were 10X15 and 6X10.

There were also narrow turfs which were 9.5X16 and 6X12.
The wheels were 8X16 and 5X12.

Rodger Scotty wrote a really good piece about tires back when we first came over. Might be worth looking for it in the old posts.

On my 276d it took a long time for the gear oil to work it's way thru. I'd fill it.. let it sit. Check the dipstick... fill it again.. let it sit, etc.
