I purchased a used hydrolic single axle dumper, I noticed that the tank looks a little low and want to top it off, can I use kubota UDH fluid in it, or any UDH fluid?
Thanks

You will be fine. I know guys that run 10W30 motor oil, tranny fluid, AW32 hydraulic fluid, ect in them. Main thing is keeping it clean and free of moisture.

If possible can you find a manual for the pump and see what they recommended?

Thanks, it was purchased used, I even stopped at the place where it was purchased new and the onwer could not answer the question.
I have one more for you:
I used it when the weather was 20 degrees, and it did not operate very smooth, I checked the fluid and it looks like it had congealed or rather had clots in it. The fluid appears to be red (like ATF fluid) and the clots looked almost like a fleshtone, somewhat yellowish. Could this have been moisture, or something within the original fliud?
Should I replece the fluid? Or would this be common when its been in the teens for extended periods of time? How would I check it for water content? Its about a 1 gallon tank inside a metal box with a lid, condensation perhaps?

Yes, replace the fluid. Its contaminated.

I would take off the hoses from the cylinder and operate the pump in both directions to blow out as much as possible. Next drain the cylinder to get it out also. If possible take the reservoir off the pump and drain it. I would then flush it out with some Kero or Diesel. It will not hurt the pump if you only run it for a few seconds to clean it out. Make sure you drain all you can out of the pump, reservoir, cylinder, and hoses.

I would then just either use the UTF you said you had or go spend $30 and get a fresh 5 gallon jug of AW32 hydro fluid. It will probably be cheaper in the long run.

Many use ATF in hydro systems because it shows up really well when there is a leak.
