NG powered new GM truck

/ NG powered new GM truck #11
saturday afternoon, i saw a GM truck getting off the freeway, with a sign on the side that said, powered by clean burning NG....by the time i got turned around an tried to find it, it had disappeared....i did a bunch of research on this subject a couple years ago, when gas prices were so close to $4 a gallon..an all the research came up with basicly nothing good about trying to put a conversion on a fuel injected new truck: sure wish i could have found that truck, an hopefully got newer an better info about converting a newer model truck to NG...

I wonder, is NG the same stuff that comes out of ground at farms alll over parts of the country? I have a gas well and have a home allowance for "free" gas. (It ain't free. I had to pay over over $20,000 for furnace boiler and hot water heat exchangers in my 3 airhandlers for heat pump and air. I also have two water tanks that are heated by the furnace year round. I also left one electric water heater valved from the system. I can easily connect up if gas goes out. I still have use of electric heat coils for emergencey if furnace or well goes down. I also have have two ventless fire places. They look nice according to wife. On the second ventless, I looked high and low for vented. Couldn't seem to find them in big box stores.

Here's my question...Could I get one of these NG trucks and pack my extra gas allowance in a compressor of sorts and then fill up with free gas? Does anyone know?

Cheers Coffeeman

By the way, I am pleased with the hot water system for heat that I now have. In a cold winter I save about $650 a month over electric heat pump. I have estimated my electric water tanks used about $15 a month per tank. I might save about $3000 a season on heat and about $360 on hot water.. I just got a new dryer and guess what? It's gas. I didn't buy dryer untill needed. I'm thinking outside gas lighting might look nice around house. Gotta check that out.

there is a device that can be used to fill your own NG powered vehicles, from home, i think it's called a "phil" or something like that...when i was really looking into this sort of thing, they were what i consider pretty expensive, but some were even on ebay at the time...

When I saw this thread I went and looked to see the range of a vehicle using CNG. My first hit was on a Honda that uses CNG. Its range is about 200 miles. Not good but better than an electric powered car. Phil was mentioned. :D I had no idea what the heck or who the heck Phil is/was.

They did mention that the device to fill up the car at home took 220/240 power and 800 watts. No mention of how long it took to fill up the tank how much it cost to buy the filling station. They did say the cost to go 25 miles was about $1.50 which is pretty cheap. :D

Later,
Dan

i found some cng kits for sale on ebay: i don't know anyone that would tackle installing one of those kits: but the price is sure right..less than $700 for what appears to be everything, except the cng tank: it seems like the phil was $5,000 when i looked at it a couple years ago??
