just checked the tag....the GVWR is 7,300....the GARW front is 3,600 and GAWR rear is 4,000..... I do have a 1985 dodge 4x4 truck with a V8.....hmmmm ..wonder if the tag is still readable...lol
I cant believe it.....my old dodge 4x4 has a rear GAWR of 4,000 also......dang....
Not sure, but you dont have to worry about others telling you that you might be better off with a gooseneck.
The old Dodge is equipped with a 318 or better yet a 360 and in good condition mechanically will be a much better tow vehicle. Just make sure the frame is solid, probably not a issue where you are at, it had a tranny cooler if a auto, and its brakes and other mechanical's are up to snuff.
My book only goes back to 1991 but a 1/2 ton Dodge 4x4 with the 318 or 360 both have a 8,100# tow rating. I am guessing there is not that much difference between the 85 and 91???? Was there any significant changes between them years?

I was just quoted a 83" x 18' longhorn trailer with breaks and rear ramps for $1950......the trailer only weighs 1500 lbs ( light trailer to pull around)but can handle a 7000 lb load.....it has two 3500 lb axles....
So, 5500 lbs is what you can load on the trailer.

Just looked at that old 318 Dodge. Man, they only made 140 hp in 85.
