We only have rubber boas and Gardner snakes here. We have one rubber boa at my moms that I see quite frequently when I am mowing brush in the summer months and I have seen him in a manure pile once but hes a cool snake. He eats all the rodents in the front yard and sunbathes when he is full. Gardner snakes are very common, kinda neat fellows. I respect them, no I wont pick one up but they were put on this earth for a reason. I am just glad they arent poisinous.

Yes, rubber boas. I kinda like em, at least at a distance. I usually only see it when I'm on my tractor and make sure not to mow over the poor guy. I sadly don't got any pictures of him, he is still hibernating right now as there is still snow on the ground. I suspect he will be out soon though. :)

Will the state pay for the medical care after the bite?

Good question but I doubt it. I don't plan on having to find out if my 12 gauge can do anything about it..ha..ha

Where in Missouri did you live when you had the Copperheads.

I live outside St. Louis and have never seen a Copperhead. Should I be more careful?

What's up, Neighbor?
Lot's of copperheads in Jeff County. They are aggressive and poisonous, but not deadly.

I've never cared for snakes. Especially after being attacked while swimming. Talk about an unfair fight. For now on any snake I see is a dead snake. Regardless of what any law says.

We have our share of copperheads, and an occasional rattler here in southwestern mo. Then there is those "real friendly" water moccasins or as some call them "cotten mouth's" . A very aggressive water loving, fast moving, "bitey" kind of snake. As long as we are in a "snake swapping" mood, I will swap some copperheads and water moccasins for a few garter snakes, salt and pepper king snakes or maybe a rat snake or two. I have never seen a "poisonous snake" but I have sure seen some "venomous snakes" and I guess if you have been bitten, you could say you were "poisoned". Copperheads love to hang around habitation, woodpiles and such, and nail you on the hand or foot. I liked the two in the picture the best. (dead).
