Can someone enlighten me as to what the backup/worklight circuit's deal is?
I took a look at the shop manual and it shows it connected to the 10 amp fuse in the fuse box.
Does it only come alive on being in reverse with the tractor running?
I've tried to get a hot from my test light and have tried everything I can think of EXCEPT putting it into reverse with the engine running.
Any thoughts on what I'm missing?

Thx,

CM

Your worklight should have power when your ignition switch is turned to the B position (acc) and c (run) . See page 4-7 of your owners manual . I orderd the work light and installed it myself and works as stated .

Thanks,
I'll check out the manual; it sounds like the method you suggest should work. This is what happens when I go directly to the schematic before looking at the owner's manual.

I finally hooked up the work light and it does not light when the light switch is on, tractor running and in reverse, or any other position for that matter. Disconnected the factory wire from the light and ran a hot lead directly to the lead off the light and presto: I now have a light.
So now I've looked in the owner's manual but nowhere can I find a fuse box reference or work light reference except when it refers to the cab model, which I do not have.
Is there a place to determine where power is supplied to the factory bullet plug on the end of the wire which connects to the work light?
I'm going to go back to the tractor and look at the fuse box cover, which I looked at some time ago to see if it will give me a clue.
Any thoughts appreciated.

Thx,
CM

The shop manual shows fuse #7 10 amp is for your rear work light . That is the only device running off that fuse . That fuse gets its power through your key sw. . Hope this helps !

carhartt56,

Thanks for the info. I did find the 10 amp fuse on the fuse block below the parking brake handle of the tractor. I did not know where it draws its power from- the ignition switch, as you mentioned.

My selling dealer just returned my call as to whether the bullet connector end of the wire behind the seat which hangs below the frame section is live when the lights are on or the tractor is in reverse...
He tells me the wire I found is the GROUND wire for the work light- and I need to look for the female end wire in the same area which is the hot feed, and is live when the ignition switch is on. It is independent of the light switch, and is not dependent on being in reverse either.

Thanks to all who helped me solve this issue.

Happy tractoring- be safe!

Thanks!
CM
