Hello all, first post. I bought "the family" a new Kubota RTV 1140CPX this past Christmas based on all of the great information available here. I spent hours researching the side by side machines and for my needs the RTV fit the bill. In the end, the back seat and rear hydraulics sealed the deal. I added the plastic top, the plexi-glass windshield, the winch, and the high mount air kit. I plan to get a RTV Hitchworks Farmboy and a small disc harrow for food plots and a small box blade to work the roads with. Yes, the shifter can be difficult at times and I have to shift to a lower gear to climb hills, its not as agile as a 4 wheeler, its not as quiet as a golf cart, its not as fast as a Ranger or one of the new Gators, but man can it do some work. I just filled it up after putting 15 hours on it and it took 5 gallons of fuel. Outstanding! Here's a pic from when my son and I were putting out deer feeders a couple of weeks ago. I've had it in some places you wouldn't believe and haven't gotten stuck yet. Almost though. Oh, special thanks to JOHNTHOMAS and timswi. I've probably read every one of your RTV posts.

Very nice, love the camo...You had it's intent down prior to purchase....Not a speedster, but a top-notch worker that's for sure.

Keep us up to date on how you like it.

Well I do really like it. It has a much better ride than our lifted golf cart and not nearly as top heavy. You would think at this stage of the game though they would have that shifting mechanism figured out. Most of the time its fine, occasionally have to hold brake and rev engine before it will slip into a different gear, says to do that on dash. Dealer says he can adjust out of it. Probably do it at 50 hr. service.

It's the nature of the beast...Hopefully he can improve it for you.

I've got some pretty steep hills here on my place and go anywhere in M. Have you tried to let off on the pedal as you go uphill to let the transmission build up pressure?

The 900 and my tractor both get a new "umph" when I let off and the pedal and then hit it again.

Do the 1140's not have the two neutral adjusting screws like the 500 so you can set the hydro to true neutral?

Yes, I usually use M too. 10-15 mph is plenty fast for me off road. I let off and get the "umph". Starting out, sometimes there is no alternative to L. Running, M is fine. That's not really a problem for me, just the shifting, and its not too bad. Dealer says he can fix though. He wants to wait for 50 hrs run time. Its under warranty so I'll let him give it a shot.

Don't know, although the HST does look similar. I haven't messed with my 1100 at all yet.
