What is the correct thermostat temp for a 2000 diesel?

The operator manual it say 168.The I&T and the Service Manual (905 pages) say 188
What is the correct thermostat temp for a 2000 diesel?

Most engines run in the 175 to 190 F range. overheating involves air flow through the radiator and grass clippings.

Winter can be a problem for engine heating, just block off half of the radiator.

Thank you for you quick replied .The dealer is trying to sell me the 168,but I prefer a little higher than lower ;:mostly in a Diesel.I guess I'll go for the 188

looks like the 188 is for a gas engine. taken from the cnh website

Why not see what temperature range the engine runs in now and in the heat of the summer.
Remember that the T-stat sets the lower operating temperature. Too cold and it is inefficient and the oil will never be in the green range. hot at normal loading is good, too hot not so good.

yep... those diesels don't like being cold.

when I got one for my 4610, the new holland dealer asked me if it had a cab. so looks like if you have a cab, it gets the hotter one so you have heat. otherwise its the 168. mine runs about 1/4 of the way into the green range on the temp gauge.
