Could someone tell me the name of the stuff and where to buy. You smear it around rim and it holds air in so tire will pop on rim. Thick kinda line grease.
Thanks

There's a couple different products, I use a soapy type stuff that I bought at Napa. Any tire shop or Napa should be able to tell you what it is and get it for you.

Thanks alot I have seen this stuff used comes in 5 gallon bucket. Very thick you smear around rim and fill up air will not go through it. Scrape off and put back in bucket

You are right...it is grease that many people use....a thin layer on wheel rim and tire bead helps the two fit together better and it takes less air pressure to seat the tire on the rim.

Remove the valve stem, apply air. If getting the initial closure is difficult and you don't have any success in repositioning the tire, standing on edge, etc.... try putting a strap around the tire on top of the tread and drawing it up as tightly as possible to help begin seating the bead.

Good luck!

Like has been said there are several brands. The one I use is Murphy's Tire and Tube mounting Compound. Yes, I bought it in a Five gallon bucket. One of the best investments I've made doing my own tire work. I also have the Cheeta air tank to set bead with that works great. bjr

Most of this stuff makes the bead slick so that it'll pop back into place. I've used ArmorAll.

This is a trick I have used. Kinda like a tourniquet use a rope and a bar and twist the rope tight.

You can also use butane  Spray a little in the crack and light it

I've started using Armorall for a few things. My air/water/pressure washer reel hoses roll up a lot better after a coating.
