My wife just came home from a shopping trip to the local mall. She was talking to a person that is trying to open a new store there. They have had a sign in the window for several days trying to hire help. They haven't had one person apply.

We have been trying to hire another employee to work in the shop at our shipping facility and everyone we have approached so far, is Drawing a gumment check of some sort and can't work at a public job. They say it will mess up their check. Really a sad situation. Ken Sweet

Ken, this is something that makes me sick. People whom live off the government and probably belongs on the front porch part of the forum. but still needs to be brung up to everyone on this forum. People who live off the government and in reality, us who are paying there bills. See this type of thing every day, and as said before food stamps for people not needing, medical care because of legalities of being an unmarried mother when the father stays there every night? Alot of things need to be reviewed.

I would like to know what it will take for the gumment to start the "review" process. I guess us suckers that work will continue to support the 50% that don,t. I believe that I could review and correct the whole darn mess in about 1 day! Ken Sweet

Lots of the government don't want any review because if you started looking at them, you'd fire them. Some of these government jobs don't go to the most qualified people; they are awarded for political reasons and therein lies the whole problem. It's not about right. It's not about economics. It's not about efficiency. It's all about politics.

I do sympathize with your wifes condition. My Oldest Son was in a motorcycle vs car pulled out in front of him accident about 5 years ago and could have qualified for disability. He still has pain about 1/2 the time. When he is hurting, he does business on the laptop from the recliner or where ever he can get comfortable. On good days, he works on the farm and in his shop. I am proud that he is still a productive member of society.

Not all back problems are created equal and sitting at the computer is not necessarily "comfortable". Back in 1998 I had discitis in my lower back and sacrum. I have a desk job and missed 2 months of work. Trust me, even if I had been able to stand it, with the level of pain meds I was taking I wasn't up to it.

But.........if you can work and make money then any government disability should be cut.

why not just do like those folks from way down south and live 20 or 30 to a house and send most of your $10 per hour pay check back home---$500 rent divided by 20 makes it easy---who needs a standard of living ----in the old days three generation of familys lived in the same house at the same time---all that government support was done by the family----IT IS A FAMILY PROBLEM NOT A GOVERNMENT PROBLEM!!!!----send pea seed not food stamps----grandpa can hoe the garden while i watch tv---the commercials or great! :)----it could be worse for grandpa---he could be living in his own home getting a social security check:confused::confused:

Any idea what is needed to get corporate welfare?

I know it is relatively straight-forward to start a corporation... what I don't know is where to find the Corporate Welfare Office?

Looking around there are many signs of Government excess.

In front of work the utility under-grounding project on on city street has been going on for more than 10 years... the street is torn-up then closed only to be torn-up again.

None of the original city engineers, Mayor or City Council that started with the project 10 years ago are still with the city... yet the project seems to have a life of it's own.
