I use Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate available from Xilisoft Video Converter, DVD Ripper, iPad, iPod video converter, AVI to DVD. It is a commercial program but did not cost much. It will convert between many formats and works well for my needs.

I imagine there are free video converters available if you search for them. Some Xilisoft products have free versions that limit the size of the files you can create until you pay for a license.

Is there a reason you can't upload it to Youtube and then attach it to a post here...or just post the link to the video?

why should I have to post it to you tube and then link it back here, besides it is on my hard drive. just wondering? the file ends with the .avi extension which is not that uncommon. the file ext. TBN ask for as far as I can tell doesn"t cover video files or am I wrong here. If so, tell me how to do it. thanks zman

Here is a link to the allowed BB code:

TractorByNet.com - BB Code List

the last one is for Youtube vids... scroll all the way to the bottom for an example...

Another way would be to put the file on a server connected to a big enough pipe to stream video...but then you would only be able to link to it because there is no BB code to embed a stream...:(

Sorry I didn't mention in the first reply that youtube was one of just a few options...

CORRECTION...you can use
HTML:
so maybe you can embed a stream from an IP or domain address...

Sorry zman. My previous post recommending a video converter was misleading.

From the list of valid file extensions it appears TBN does not accept video files as attachments. It does accept .zip files, so I guess one could embed the video in that. But it gets rather confusing for people to have to download the .zip and extract the video and hope their system will play it. I believe Windows does not play .avi files but free players such as VLC media player will do it.

As /Pine suggests, posting it to youtube and providing a link is the simplest.

Sounds like a lot of trouble, just to put a video on. I wish TBN was able to accept videos. thanks for the suggestions though. zman
