Just read Western's "caught a thief" post.
Someone mentioned game cams and I bought one a few months ago.
I think it was $50 or $60 so.
It does everything I need, but it will not wake up until someone is long gone.
The minimum time before it takes a pic is 30 seconds.
I mainly need it for day time. I am at home at night and far away in the day.

Hoping to find one that is faster and don't want to spend a lot for one.

Thanks,
Charlie

A game cam is a wise idea if placed inconspicuosly. Make sure it has "no flash" or you might come home to find it in pieces. Also place some black tape over the red led. I'm looking for a newer camera that works strictly off heat, because grass and leaves is about all I view on windy days during hunting season.
When we went on vacation 2 years ago my adult son agreed to come by once per day to feed the pets. When I checked my game-cam I found him going through our refrigerator. We all got a laugh from that.
The memory chip on my game-cam will plug directly into our Panasonic Plasma TV which makes viewing nice & fast since the camera did not have a viewing monitor on it. Found that out later.
Now is the time of year when the demand for game-cams is low increasing the chances for a discount.

TracTrac,

I'm going further in the direction as You, infrared.

Going to see if I can still find the Stealth or Cuddebacks in the 2 set package like they had during deer season, I want more coverage area than the ones I have.

Positively going full camo'd ones also.

I just posted my reply on Western's thread about catching his scrap thief. The two brands I like are Scoutguard and Covert. They run about $200 a piece. The cameras you buy for less than $100 aren't very good cameras. Trust me...been there...done that.

Both brand cameras shoot pics and videos during daytime and in the dark using infrared. They use the 'AA' batteries which makes for a smaller camera. Much easier to conceal.

Thanks for the heads up. I will definitely Google those.

I am using one of these

X6c 6.0 Megapixel Digital Trail Camera with Infrared Flash

I paid about $100 at Dicks Sporting Goods. Looks like online prices are a little less.

I chose this camera because it was about 1/3rd the size of a normal camera. I feel this makes it much easier to hide. It has an infrared flash so criminals should not notice it at night.

Looking for online prices I saw this box for it Wildgame Innovations X6C Camera Bear Box

A scoutguard or a Bushnell Trophy Cam would be great. I own two Bushnell TC's and they only have a one second delay and an infared flash. They don't flash like an old fasion camera but they do blink red for a 1/10th of a second when a photo goes off so they are not totally undetectable if you were looking right at it.

Regarding a camera that can be seen the rule is: too high they will shoot it, too low they will steal it.

On our unattended land we lease for hunting we use Cuddeback No-Flash cameras. We have had a game feeder stolen but they haven't found our Cuddeback cameras in the past three years.
