So I am the only one who does oil analysis around here?

No! :) I have done it several years ago when I first started using Royal Purple. You stated that you wanted facts and I no longer have the reports they sent me back so I cannot give you "quotes of the great results I am getting. I did test before switching and then after!:D

Mine is done by Growmark..A division of Farm Service and Country Companies..

My oil supplier offers if for free..

The oil guy mentioned Black something is a good place to get it done..

Generally like stated above, if you do it a few times then you know what is going on and not much need for it down the road..

When I switched to another brand (Rotella)mentioned in this thread is showed on my next analysis in a negative way..Then I switched back and it straightened out the results..

I think most all oils are pretty dang good anymore, but the education of oil analysis is very interesting..

JDude,

I do used oil analyses, too, using a company called Blackstone. It costs about $25 per sample. I've found no appreciable advantage in using synthetic over conventional oils in my 4610, so I simply use Chevron Delo 15W-40. Frankly, just about any name-brand oil will do.

If I were operating in a colder environment, I'd consider a conventional heavy duty engine oil such as Chevron Delo 10W-30 or a synthetic 5W-40 or 0W-40.

Cheers,
Mark

I use regular 15-40 Rotella in all me gas and diesel engines and ot performs very well. From lawn mowers, ATVs, cars, F250 powerstroke and my tractors too. Unless you run run your engine low on oil or do not change it regularly at all, I do not think you will ever see an oil related failure with Rotella in my opinion. You can buy more expensive oils, but why ? Both of my Fords have over 300k miles with no oil useage, leaks or blowby. Nuff said.

I also use regular Rotella 15W-40 in my (6) tractors because that is what I can get cheapest at the local TSC. I did notice a significant improvement in gas-milage on my truck, van, and SUV when I switched them over to Mobil 1 synthetic oil. That improvement was easily enough to pay the increased cost of the oil (almost 2 mi/gallon on my 6.0 liter pickup). I dont use the pickup a lot and it takes almost (2) years for me to pile up 6000 miles required for the change. I also feel better using the synthetic, given the long time period between changes. Does any one notice a fuel economy improvement on a tractor using synthetic oil? I will only use it if it can save me money as it does on my vehicles.
