This is only my second tractor so I am still learning. I notice that the left lift arm on my new 3720 has a grease fitting. I don't understand why. I thought that only the right lift arm was adjustable.

I must be missing some fundamental point. Can anyone clue me in?

Thanks,

my 2320 has it as well. not sure why but because it was there, I threw a few pumps of grease in it. or maybe it is just on the adjustable side, just checked the manual again.

That lift link isn't adjustable (threaded), is it? Doesn't appear to be.That is kind of odd.

These arms pivot, I would think that the grease fitting is there to help the movement.

Yeah, but the fitting ("A" in the pic) is on the barrel, not where it pivots.

I'll venture those barrels (for the lift links) are manufactured so they can be used on either side during final assembly...nothing that would effect the end user (operator). The handles for the adjustable side are probably welded on downstream in the manufacturing process.
Strictly guessing though.

Look at the diameter of the lifting link. I would guess the bottom portion can be disconnected from the lift link. Then it can be turned out, to lengthen the link. The flaw is that the link is already plenty long. It might also be used on larger tractors requiring a longer link.

jdparts shows a different link part number left vs. right.
But does indicate that the left link is adjustable (by disconnecting and turning in or out). To keep the threads free and not rusted together, there is a means to grease them through the zerk.

Give it a try, and see if it works that way.

Thanks everyone for the information. I had a good look at it yesterday and it appears that it might be able to be turned out to lengthen it perhaps for a different tractor. I have the iMatch and rear blade on currently and when all the snow melts and after I do my first road grading for the summer I will disassemble things and check it out. The bottom of the left arm looks like it would accept a pipe wrench rather than a regular wrench that is it doesn't have the shape of a nut but does have a couple of raised cogs on it.

What year is your 2320? My 2320 doesn't have that the grease fitting.
