RTV1140 Receiver Hitch

Drilling to hole was the easiest way in my opinion. Initially I didn't care for the idea either but I did it as a "temporary" fix until I could find one that fit correctly. It's been a year now, it works so well I'm not going to change a thing.

i just used a saw saw to make it fit.

Drill a new hole. Easier and faster, and doesn't eliminate using it on your truck. [ weaken it for use on the truck]

Regarding the bed overhanging discussed above, I had to buy a hitch extension so that the salt spreader would "clear" the bed of the RTV. Extension cost me $50 (ouch) but I guess will last forever.

I didn't pay much attention to my hitch until I seen this post, that thing is way in there even with a 12"......insert............?

didn't want to say "shaft".

I took an angle-grinder to trim off .75". I took my time and actually made a 90 degree cut this time......

I have extentions on my splitter and trailer but my skidder-arch wouldn't work on the RTV.

I noticed at HF they have atv 2" hitches and the drawbar is pretty short too. I think this is what you need.

I used a HF metal chop saw to cut mine to the right length. This shortens the total length... I think Kubota did this intentionally because the longer the insert the more weight/torque there is on the rear frame which is, after all, not a 1 ton pickup frame.

Did this twice...two different ball sizes, easy to swap out. Both inserts were the hollow tube type.

I thought about drilling a second hole, but decided that the two holes so close together would not be a good idea, weakening the insert should I ever wish to use it in a pickup again.

On the 1140 with both my modified inserts, the ball is right at the edge of the tail gate or barely beyond. I can't imagine an attachment that would hit the bed during a turn, but as always, be careful out there:thumbsup:

When did Kubota start putting on 2" receiver hitches. My 2006 RTV900 has a Class 1 hitch that is 1 1/8 or 1 1/4" (cant measure it currently) inside dimension and I picked up a standard Class1 insert at an auto parts house that fit perfectly. All the Kubotas here at site rtv900s and Rtv1100s have the same size hitch also.

All the Kubotas here at site rtv900s and Rtv1100s have the same size hitch also.

I think they started when they started the 500's and they just carried it over into the other lines. The baby had a 2" from the get go. :laughing:

I believe it's part of Kubota's listening to needed standard updates such as zerks in U joints, etc. and is part of the updates for the new 2011 version...at least that is true for the 1140.
