RTV1140 Receiver Hitch

I think they started when they started the 500's and they just carried it over into the other lines. The baby had a 2" from the get go.

I believe it's part of Kubota's listening to needed standard updates such as zerks in U joints, etc. and is part of the updates for the new 2011 version...at least that is true for the 1140.

I'm not sure when the 500's were introduced, but my RTV 900 purchased new in the fall of 2009 has the 2" receiver.

Sounds like they listened but didnt research to get the standard right. The old hitches fit like a glove with the class 1 insert. I dont know why anyone would need a 2" receiver on them anyway. A 1.25" solid bar will pull more than the RTV can put out and hold at least 300 lbs of tongue weight even if not rated for that much without bending. I think I paid less than $20 for it and Harbor Freight would have cost me about $10 or less. I used one to pull a 17 foot boat many years ago and it worked fine. I suppose there is some convenience to being able to swap from truck to RTV but heck for the price, just buy the RTV its own hitch insert and leave it in. Class III receiver hitch is way overkill for these machines especially given the way they are attached, that is assuming that they still attach them the same way since I havent looked at new models.

The big deal about having a 2" hitch is that standard accessories will fit without a bunch of adapters. Things like spreaders, winch mounts,......

I have numerous bumper pull devices and need to pull each with the RTV as well as pickup.

pin hitch... water wagons, cotton trailer
1 7/8 ball for small trailer
2" ball for 18 ft flatbed and boat trailer

With the 2 inch square hitch, I'm able to use what I already have rather than purchasing three new inserts!:D

I'm glad they listened. Those who need it can purchase a reducer.

The 1 1/4 is not bad , around here I can find plenty cheap at garage sales.

Kolpin does make a 2 inch receiver that bolts in place of the rear tranny filter guard and you can use it on the early RTV 900 and 1100 units that have just the 1 1/4 mounts.

UTV 2" Rear Receiver Hitch - Kubota RTV

Put a stinger in the front receiver on the 1100 with a clevis for pulling things and works real good.

You may not realize it but a 1 7/8" ball will work for both the 1 7/8" and on a 2" trailer hitch for moving them around or pulling them around the farm. I wouldnt recommend to use them out on the road, but they wont come off and by using the smaller ball you dont have to swap out each time you go to a smaller hitch.

HECK with the way my hitch on the RTV is attached, I could have it removed and a 2" receiver hitch welded on in less than 30 minutes. There is a small tack weld on the bottom and a small plate on top. In 30 seconds with my Victor OA torch, I can have that severed and ready to slap on the 2" receiver using the same bracket. Less than 1 welding rod and 3 minutes later I could have a 2" receiver if I needed one. Maybe next trip to Harbor Freight I can pick up a receiver although at the moment the one on it does what I need. What with my Troybuilt lawnmower with hitch, ZTR mower with hitch, golf cart with hitch, two tractors and a 4 WD pickup PLUS the RTV, I am not in a bind for pulling equipment. Also my brother in law who lives about 400 feet from me has about the same amount of equipment should I find that for some reason all of mine wont work due to alien invaders sucking all the juice out like they do in the movies.

I found a big hook to fit into the front receiver, pulls my high-lead just fine.

Watch dumping the bed with the hitch in. Put a big dent in the wife's new shinny tail gate when dumping rocks. 1st one always hurts the worst.

Hmm.....never thought about the hitch hitting tail gate during dump..... haven't looked, but can see how it might happen...will have to check and see if there is some reminder warning/sticker I can place on it to hopefully avoid the problem....I typically leave the hitch connected because I typically am pulling a small trailer which also is a manual dump.... Thanks for the tip:thumbsup:

Traskblacktail, I plead ignorance...what is a high-lead??
