Lost the key...

"key"? what is a "key" for a kubota?

because a "key" for my NH (and virtually all other CUT's ive seen) is a flat slab of metal that will fit in the ignition switch. also true for golf carts.

Hard to loose one of those

Yep. I left the "key" to my NH at the house, so I used a piece of wire to start it. Simply fold in half, then bend 90 degrees into an L shape = new NH key

I don't know whether to be upset so many of our tractor keys are cheap and generic, meaning ANYBODY can start them...OR happy they don't use those electronic, antitheft, frightfully expensive dealer-parts-department-only newfangled gadgets like todays new cars do.

I truthfully think the auto companies are using those costly gadgets not only to deter theft, but so the dealerships can soak you BIG TIME when you want or need a new key.

Get this...my 2004 GMC...stickered for $46,000...came with conventional keys.

While my 2004 Saturn...stickered for $20,000...came with electronic keys. Only a MORON would want to steal a 4 door, 4 cylinder, bare bones Saturn. GO FIGGER !!!

I thought about it and got an extra key for my Yanmar if I were to loose the original key. I also have some universal caterpillar keys too. :D That bag of keys is very tempting but that would be one big key ring.
