I got a 2007 L4740 HST 2 weeks ago and I noticed today that it is idling at 2000 RPM. I don't recall it idling this high but maybe it has. Everything works OK but seems to be idling too high. What is the recommended idle RPM? Could something need adjustment? Thanks.

1000-1200 rpm? Is there a stick/twig wedged in the throttle linkage preventing it from returning to idle. My normal operating rpm while working is 1850 rpm.

Yours idles at 1200 RPM? Could the trottle lever on the steering column need adjustment? How do I lower the idle RPM?

Is the idle speed of ~2000 RPM correct? How is it adjusted?

About your new to you toy, er mule, er work horse,

you will find that you may have debris in the linkage and or rust in the
linkage as well. I would purhchase some fluid film spray and lubricate the linkages and check the throttle yoke at the injection pump for debris and dier as well.

There is no "spec" per se for the L4740 low idle. It should be around 1,200-1,300 rpm. First thing that I would do is make sure that your "auto throttle" is turned off. The reason I say this is that you stated you do no beleive it was always this high. Perhaps the "auto throttle" is adjusted slightly off. If you verify that it is not the auto throttle, then I agree with everyone above, you should check for bent linkages. You can adust the throttle by adjusting the cable (or rod) between you hand throttle/auto throttle and the injection pump. Do not try to adjust the injection pump itself. Hope this helps.

Low idle should be 700-800 rpms.

nspec is correct, I got my mind clutter with the previous post when I wrote mine (no coffee yet this morning). The low idle should be just below 1,000 rpm. I should take more time to wake up befor trying to help people out. Sorry.
