Just took delivery of a new 2520 with FEL and Backhoe and have a question about street pads (or flip pads as some people refer to them) for the backhoe stabilizers.
I know John Deere doesn't offer them. I found the fabricated ones that Chris2520 made in the archives which are rather costly and very labor intensive to build.
I'm wondering if anyone has come up with a low cost way to modify the existing pads for use on pavement or sidewalks. I have some backhoe projects around the house where it would be desirable to have something soft under the stabilizer pads instead of the pointed factory metal ones.
I was thinking about trying to find a hard rubber block and cutting it to fit inside the metal points but hang down lower to prevent the points from contacting the pavement. The blocks could than be drilled and held in place with a bolt(s) through the stock metal pad. Anyone done anything like this or have any ideas on where you can buy hard rubber blocks that could be cut and shaped with a bandsaw?
Thank you.
