What's a set of R-4 tires worth?

It must all come down to soil type. I have used R1's on all my tractors to mow with and never had any turf damage. My current tractor is 4x4 and 5,600# with me on it and the mower on the 3 point. I could not do 1/2 of what I do the times I use the tractor for other chores with R4's or Turfs.

I have both R4's and R1's for my larger tractor. I run the non-loaded R4's probably 90% of the time. With anything on the 3 pt. hitch, FEL and 84" HD bucket and loaded R1's, it weighs well over 12,000 pounds. Unless my yard is like concrete in the middle of summer, it's useless with R1's, especially if I have 3000 pounds of heavy clay soil in the FEL. I don't think I've even put my R1's on in the last 2 years now that I think about it. They're just sitting on a shelf in the barn. I had turfs on a tractor once and it was like running with slicks. IMHO, they were useless. If my grass got wet from dew, I was sliding and doing damage.

R-4's with the rear loaded were WAYYYYY over $1,000. But, that's new tractor pricing? I figure if you went to but them new outright, maybe 1300, and add 300 for rim guard? maybe I'm off, but I don't think so.

Can't hurt to ask $1300...see what responses you get.

Yeah, I know what you mean.
I have turfs now and I'd much prefer R-4s.

I have a set of R-4's, rears loaded with rim guard. What would these be worth? There is only about 10 hours on the tires. .....25X8.50-14 and 15X19.5. Thanks

Hey, I have a massey with turf tires and live in upstate ny. I want some r4's. This is the size recommended for my tractor. I have a full set of turf tires and rims. The fronts are close to new that have been replaced 100 hours ago, the rears are bald. Want to make a deal. I will drive!!

In all fairness, the turfs are NOT loaded, and the R4's are. I wonder if that had a lot to do with the turf tires sliding on me? Decisions, decisions.........:confused2: I hear turfs are better in the snow. True???

I recently bought the tractor from a local jd dealer that traded it in from a school, that only used it to knock down snowbanks and remove snow from walkways, it does have a full curtis cab, soo it does make sense
