New snow bucket with mods

I've had it in the back of my mind sooner or latter I'll have to build another bucket for my tractor. I've already had to reinforce the pin holes, because they oblonged. I haven't priced buckets from John Deere, but I'm sure I'll have sticker shock. I'm retired so my labor means nothing.

Building a bucket is a great project. I don't know about your area but around here steel prices are gone right through the roof. Some of the aftermarket guys like Canadian made "Horst" makes a great product at a reasonable price and that's where I got mine. In this case I couldn't afford the time. If you do start a bucket build it would be great to see some photos. Thanks for your post and your more than kind words on my work.

I would like to know how the excavator bucket got in that condition. I have seen them rip teeth off but never the whole plate.

Well Bill that sort of thing happens when the operator tries to crack rocks with the bucket. In other words these buckets don't make great hammers :ashamed:

Thank you my friend. It looks like this bucket will end up on another tractor because today I ordered a new 2011 big orange Grand L 5740 cabed tractor . Don't know how it happened. I had just called my friendly dealer asking for a quote on some rear wheel weights and ended up buying the tractor

Wow Paul! Are you adding to or replacing your tractor you have now? We'll need pics, of course!

Jay I'm replacing it. The tractor has no issues and is like new. No sign of dirt anywhere on it but the guys at my local Kubota dealership are great guys and did a deal I couldn't pass up. The order for the 5740 was placed yesterday and will arrive sometime late May. When it arrives it will be delivered to me and then I remove all the custom stuff from my 4240 and install it on the 5740. The dealer will return to pick up the 4240
When the change up is complete and the deal is done. I'll make sure there will be a thread started on it when it happens.

Well my buddy I have to say you were right but it would have been it for me until next fall but now I have to gear up to get the new tractor ready now. This one snuck up on me
