This post and the comment remind me of an old JD commercial many years ago on TV. A guy was going to plant a small tree in front of his house in the city; you know typical subdivision lot. Next thing you know he is in a really large JD excavator and as he swings around he just wipes out a car parked in the street. I always thought it was a really funny commercial.

I wanted the TLB sooooooooooo bad I could taste it, but............the "boss" said no.

Now she is in a position where that little backhoe is really needed.

I kinda got the last laugh.

Cept for the fact that the spade shovel fits my hands better than hers..............or so she says.

I bought a 2610 TLB. Never looked back. I have seen both sides of the argument, Cost/Versus renting. I like having it when I need it.

Track hoes works well when you have a farm lay out so you do not have to ever haul the track hoe. Chooglin's remark about size is on target.

I was looking for a FEL for the 265 MF and came home with 1983 JD 310B backhoe that weights 13K pounds on rubber for about the same money as a new FEL (used was too used for me). Around a house or buildings I can see a JD 110 would be much more easy to manage.

Both the JD and MF are 60 HP units and the BH is awesome to pull out MF when I get it hung in swampy places or get too close to a ditch.

The huge TH will get your place cleaned up in a hurry then you can sell it for a smaller unit. A BH is a tease for a TH. :D

For the last decade the only piece of equipment I had was a 30,000lb payloader. I remodeled my house, dug crawlspace for addition, landscaped my yard, etc.... All with this massive piece of equipment. It's all about will and using what ya got. I always say I can flip a dime with the bucket on the payloader, but I can't run a bobcat worth a crap. I've got grandiose ideas about a couple of lakes on my property. Wouldn't get to far with the mini. On the off chance I need to ever dig in my yard again I'll just trade some tree stand time for a rental at my local yard. :)

Do, or not do, no try. Not fit, make fit......... I think it is the right tool.

Hmmm...to me it still seems like she got the last laugh.

My "boss" told me either a new pickup or the TLB, I wasn't getting both (and of course I wasn't allowed to get a tractor that costs as much as a truck :(). Only four more years until the MF'er is paid off and I can finally get a new truck!!!

Actually, I've become very good at digging flowers and shrubs with the FEL. She gripes about the bigger holes though.

I just say.............." Shoulda sprung for the TLB".:laughing::laughing:
